The Essential Knitwear Guide

You can gain a lot by putting some thought into your knitwear collection. Maybe it’s just me, but I think it’s essential to have an item of knitwear for every occasion! Here’s your essential guide to knitwear!

Cardigans

The good old-fashioned cardigan should be a staple of every woman’s wardrobe. It doesn’t matter where you are or what time of the year it is; you still need a good cardigan nearby. They always come in handy. In my opinion, everyone should have at least three cardigans, preferably more!

You need one that comes down to the waist and has shorter sleeves. These are good for summer evenings or when the weather should be warm but is a little colder than you’d like. You can just slip it on, and your problems are solved. You also need a bigger, thicker one for the winter months.

Lazy Day Knitwear

Although we might not like to admit it, we all have lazy days, some of us more often than others. And when we have one of those days, they aren’t complete unless you have a big, comfortable sweater on. They’re important as the sofa, the television and, of course, the ice cream.

So, what exactly do you need from lazy day knitwear? Well, this kind of knitwear can be pretty free-form. You should go for whatever is most comfortable for you, that’s the entire point of lazy day knitwear. It just has to be something that feels good to wear, how good (or bad) it looks doesn’t matter a bit.

Bulky Sweaters

What you need in winter is a big, bulky sweater that’ll keep you warm when the frost begins to bite. That extra level of warmth and comfort can make the prospect of venturing out of your front door and into the cold that little bit more palatable. That doesn’t mean you have to forego style though!

There are numerous different types of bulky sweater. The most common is the cable knit style sweater. It’s a classic and looks great in winter. Or you could go for an Irish Aran sweater. You can buy them direct from Ireland at aransweatersdirect.com. These sweaters were first designed to keep Irish fishermen warm, so you won’t get cold wearing one!

Bright Jumpers

Your jumper can often be the central focus of your entire outfit, that’s why you need at least one jumper that’s bright and lively. Not all your jumpers have to be this way, but they can look great if you pull off the look. Bright jumpers look particularly good if you match them with something simple and plain like denim or grey coloured clothes.

You should wear them not just in the spring and summer, but in the winter too. When it’s cold and dark, a bright item of clothing can lift not only your outfit, but your mood too. I’ve always found that wearing bright, positive clothes has made me feel better about myself, so give it a try

Now you’re prepared to stock up your wardrobe with great items of knitwear!
